Rachel Parkinson is a crazy-sex-dog-chicken-freak. Well, she was for a while, now she is a Melbourne-based singer/songwriter/guitarist. With her gutsy, dynamic and simply stunning style, Rachel cites her influences as Ani Difranco, Suzanne Vega, They Might Be Giants, Dido and Jeff Lang.

In the early to late nineties, Rachel was a drummer and played in many a touring rock band until recently when she swapped her sticks for her picks and discovered that years of singing in the shower had paid off and she could actually carry a tune! What a surprise. Rachel is now gigging regularly around Melbourne as a solo artist, and has done shows in Alice Springs supporting rip-rok band, NoKTuRNL, and in Sydney. More recently she did supports with Eric Burdon on the Melbourne leg of his Australian tour.

Her twisting voice provides a slightly dark sound to essentially infectious pop tunes and her energy leaps from her skin like flames. Seeing Rachel Parkinson perform live mostly leaves audiences with a warm, fuzzy feeling. Rachel's debut solo EP, CHUNKY is sounding divine and is available via

CD Online and at all of her shows!
